Lauren Grantham Rogers is from Goldsboro, North Carolina, where she began singing at a very early age. Coming from a musical family that was actively involved in church had a powerful influence. Some of her fondest memories are vacation trips in the car with her parents and older brother, turning off the radio only to harmonize together.
Lauren found comfort on stage in church plays and youth choir. She soon began finding new opportunities for performing, competing in local and state pageants and eventually for the Miss America Association. She was actively involved with acting in theatre companies such as Center Stage, where she played her favorite role as Sarah Brown in the musical Guys and Dolls and was instantly hooked.
Finding a passion in performing, she auditioned for Coastal Carolina University’s Musical Theatre program where she was accepted with a scholarship. Acting in several plays such as Crazy For You and Oklahoma!, she also was a featured dancer/choreographer in CCU’s senior showcase. Singing in a group called POP 101 stretched her musical theatre training and brought out her inner rock-star, singing songs by artists from Etta James to Journey. Shortly before graduation, Lauren began singing with the Andrew Theilen Big Band out of Myrtle Beach, SC which gave her opportunities to travel around the east coast. Meanwhile, back in North Carolina, she loved coming home to sing with her brother and minister to youth in their contemporary Christian band called Seeking Reflection.
Shortly after graduation, Lauren accepted a job as a featured singer at the Randy Parton Theatre, which was later named the Roanoke Rapids Theatre. Performing nightly to live audiences, Lauren was in her element. She was also blessed with the opportunity to give back when asked to go to Kingstree, SC along with the theatre cast to sing and raise money for Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library at her benefit concert. After singing over a year at the Roanoke Rapids Theatre and sharing the stage with legends such as Charlie Daniels, the Oak Ridge Boys, Stephen Curtis Chapman .38 Special, Lorrie Morgan, Percy Sledge, Blood Sweat and Tears, and many others, Lauren began teaching chorus and drama back in her hometown where she directs four productions a year.
Lauren married the love of her life, Brooks Rogers, on May 18, 2008. They both are actively involved in their church where they serve as youth leaders and praise team members. Lauren also enjoys singing in the choir which at times she directs. Her husband is a talented musician playing bass, guitar and sax, as well as gifted in graphic design and website design. Although Lauren enjoys being a teacher and finding gifts in her young students, she still has a passion for performing. She loves traveling all over the country and singing with the group Second Helping: A Tribute to Lynyrd Skynyrd, which is the longest running Lynyrd Skynyrd Tribute band in the nation. Yet, most of all she loves spending time with her family.
I look forward to new opportunities that God has in store for me. He is my light and my strength, and without him I am nothing. He has blessed me in so many ways and I pray that he will bless all of you and lead you to your purpose and dream. “The LORD your God is with you, he is mighty to save. He will take great delight in you, He will quiet you with his love, He will rejoice over you with singing” (Zephaniah 3:17).
